Our founder, David Dubinsky, a Norfolk firefighter, embarked on this journey in 1983, arriving in Virginia Beach with a vision and $500. By 1985, Jack Frost Firewood, Inc was established, quickly becoming renowned for its premium seasoned firewood and, shortly after, for its high-quality bulk landscaping materials.
The landscape division, acquired in the mid-1990s, marked our expansion into designing and installing bespoke outdoor spaces, leading to our recognition as an award-winning company by the year 2000. Our growth continued with the 2007 acquisition of The Garden Center in Virginia Beach, transforming it into a vibrant hub for gardening enthusiasts, offering everything from plants and trees to garden décor and bulk materials.
In 2012, we further expanded our expertise with a commercial lawn and maintenance division, underlining our commitment to excellence in the green industry. David retired from the Norfolk Fire Department in 2009, but his legacy lives on through our dedicated team of landscape professionals.
